The Membership Committee continues the Youth Program.

The
Youth Gallery is recently added to FCWM's Photo Galleries.
Two newest submissions are from Joe, age 8, and Olivia, age 13 (the column on the right), both from Ottawa and we look forward to many more.

Olivia did her sketch after visiting the Vimy Memorial with her family while Joe was very impressed with the tanks in the LeBreton Gallery after meeting FCWM Volunteer Interpreters Connie Mooney and Don Allen.

New Program Aimed at Canadian Youth

The Friends have launched a new program designed to stimulate an interest in Canadian military history among young families. Starting this summer, Children (age 18 or under) can become Youth Friends of the Canadian War Museum for one year by submitting an original work of art to the Friends of the CWM. These works may include drawings, paintings, poems, short stories, essays or other creative works and should relate to the mandate of the Canadian War Museum: Education, Preservation and Remembrance.

Youth Friends will receive a certificate of recognition, four issues of The Torch and the FCWM pin. They may also see their work of art published on the Friends web site, in our newsletter, or in special publications. As well, the Friends will be developing special events at the CWM for our Youth Friends.

Fordson Van Unveiling - celebrating together!

The Youth Friend program is aimed at children from all age groups. For younger children we are expecting that parents will use the Youth Friend program to encourage their kids' interests in military history and guide them in completing the application process.

Please spread the word about the new Youth Friend program. Tell your children or grandchildren about it. Families can request a Youth Friend application form from the Friends office 819-776-8618 or email at Youth Friend Application Request or download from the FCWM web site: Friends of Canadian War Museum
