Pat was born on 28 February, 1935 in Hounslow Middlesex England. He moved to Brantford Ontario in May, 1947 and attended Brantford Collegiate Institute and Vocational School from 1947 to 1952. In 1952, he entered the Royal Canadian Navy as a Cadet(L) and graduated in Engineering Physics from the Royal Military Collge, as well as receiving his BSc in the same discipline from Queens University and an M.S. in Engineering Electronics at the USN Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. In 1989, he was inducted as an Officer of the Order of Military Merit. His career spanned a large number of technical appointments, includiing Project Officer (Fighting Equipment) for the FHE 400 Hydrofoil, Electronic Maintenance Officer HMCS BONAVENTURE, Weapons System Engineering Officer HMC Dockyard Halifax, Section Head positions in the Director General Maritime Engineering and Maintenance and finally, in 1983, Staff Officer in what is now Directorate Science & Technology Maritime (DSTM) of Defence R&D Canada (DRDC). After his retirement as a Commander from the navy in 1989, he continued as a Staff Officer in DSTM. Over the years, he had responsibility at one time or another for just about all the technological areas covered by the directorate. At retirement in December, 2002, his responsibilities entailed the full gamut of Naval Above Water Warfare technologies. Pat married Lynne Hubert of St. Thomas Ontario 29 December. 1963. They have three children - Hillary Anne, Timothy Eric and Morgan Sarah. All are married, but only Hillary has produced grandchildren - Brittany and Drew. Pat joined the FCWM Executive Committee more recently, because one of the members, Capt.GG Armstrong RCN(Ret'd.), was stepping down, and it seemed a good fit with both his interests and ensuring the continuation of a navy member on the Committee.
