Born in Galt Ont, Jarrott attended various public schools in Ont including the first Department of National Defense (DND) public school in Camp Borden. He attended Banting Memorial High School in Alliston, Ont, Royal Roads In Victoria and the Royal Military College in Kingston (RMC). On graduation from RMC, he joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He served in Petawawa; two tours with the NATO Brigade in Germany, the last as the Commanding Officer of 4 Service Battalion; in Gagetown with 3 Service Battalion; two tours at Mobile Command Headquarters in St Hubert, Que the last as Deputy Chief of Logistics; attended the Canadian Forces Saff college in Toronto; a tour with the UN as an observer in the Kashmir; several tours at National Defense Headquarters (NDHQ) in various staff positions including the Director of Transportation Operations. In his last position as a Programme Evaluation Director, he conducted a study that resulting in either the closing or returning responsibility for all DND schools to provincial jurisdiction. On retirement from the Canadian Forces he worked for five years in facilities management and administrative activities at NDHQ. For a further five years he worked in various consulting activities related to transportation. He is married to the former Judith Ann Neale and has a daughter and son and four grandchildren. Since retirement he has continued his volunteer work at
the War Museum where he has been involved for the past 15 years, as well
as with other local community organizations. His hobbies include: golf,
biking, hiking, skating, cross country skiing, reading military history,
travel and spending as much time as possible with the family. |
