HOWARD MANSFIELD

 

Howard was born in the Royal Naval Hospital in Gibraltar in 1928 and educated in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and England. After the end of the Second World War, he joined the Palestine Police and later the Malayan Frontier Force. In his subsequent career, he served as British Vice-Consul, South Siam; Assistant Superintendent, Malayan Police; and as a Major in the Canadian Forces Security Branch. Upon leaving the military, he held a number of posts in the federal civil service, including Director, Correctional Services Canada; and Deputy Director Security, House of Commons. He is a past-president of the Canadian Intelligence and Security Association.

Mr Mansfield has been a private security consultant since 1991, engaged in conducting security studies, reviews and audits for government departments and agencies, and for private companies with government contracts.

Howard has been involved with the FCWM since 1987, trained as a Guide, and then became Secretary of the Friends in 1991. Since retirement, besides being an active golfer, he has enjoyed two major container ship cruises (73 days through Panama Canal to Australia and return; 54 days at sea through Suez Canal to South Korea and return).
