Warrant Officer Ed Storey was born in Pembroke, Ontario
in 1960. His Father was in the Royal Canadian Engineers, so he has lived
and attended school in CFB Chilliwack, British Columbia; CFB Petawawa,
Ontario; Ottawa, Ontario and CFB Lahr, Germany. While studying to be an
Architectural Technologist in College in 1978, Ed joined the Lanark and
Renfrew Scottish and when his studies took him to Ottawa he transferred
to the Governor General's Foot Guards.
Ed joined the Mapping and Charting Establishment, Canadian Military Engineers
in 1982 and trained as a Map Reproduction Technician. Further training
as a Terrain Analyst in 1989 resulted in a posting to 1 Canadian Intelligence
Company, 1st Canadian Division Headquarters in Kingston, Ontario in 1992.
During a six-year posting with this unit, Ed was deployed to Croatia for
12 months from 1993-94, Kampala, Uganda in late 1996, and with the CF
Disaster Assistance Responce Team (DART) to La Cieba, Honduras in late
1998. Ed returned to MCE Ottawa in 1999 and was deployed for 7 months
in 2000-01 to SFOR Headquarters in Sarajevo.
WO Storey resides in Ottawa and is married to Loretta (nee Wickens) from
Shawville, Quebec and has two children Charles and Holly. Ed has been
an avid collector of Canadian 20th Century Militaria for over 25 years
and has used his extensive collection as the technical base for several
magazine articles and a book. WO Storey has also used his collection to
brief at unit reunions and the Canadian Forces Staff College in Kingston,
Ontario. Ed has also travelled extensively in Europe having visited most
of the major Canadian battlefields in Italy and Northwest Europe. Besides
travel, other hobbies include photography, coins/stamps and sketching.
Ed has been a member of FCWM since its inception, having joined due to
his passion for Canadian military history and an interest in the CWM.
WO Storey currently holds the seat as Director of Public Events.
