Youth Program Underway
Tanks in LeBreton Gallery.
Joe, Age 8
The Membership Committee continues the Youth Program.
In order to become a Youth Friend, anyone under the age of 18 can join
the Friends for free for one year (renewable) by donating a painting,
a poem, an essay or any other work of art. Two recent submissions are from Joe, age 8, and Olivia,
age 13 (the column on the right), both from Ottawa and we look forward to many more.
Olivia did her sketch after visiting the Vimy Memorial with her family while Joe
was very impressed with the tanks in the LeBreton Gallery after meeting
FCWM Volunteer Interpreters Connie Mooney and Don Allen.

The 25th Anniversary of the Friends
To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Friends, we have produced an updated history of the organization,
under the able editorship of Bob Margeson.
The booklet, entitled The Torchbearers, covers major milestones
in the Friends formation from 1985 through to 2010. This attractive publication features our achievements
and fundraising campaigns over the past 25 years, our various volunteer responsibilities, and details of
our organization. Attractively illustrated with colour photographs and professionally packaged, this
publication will be of interest to all Friends and their friends and family.
In order to economize, the booklet will be only electronically published in a PDF format with only select,
small scale printing done for specific purposes. To view the document,

Youth Program Underway!
In addition to the Youth Friend program, the Friends are also sponsoring
a summer Student Volunteer Program where students are paired with Volunteer
Interpreters and learn about the various artefacts and exhibits. Student
Volunteers complete their volunteer assignment by preparing a research paper
under the guidance of the Volunteer Interpreters.
