April 9th, 2017: Vimy A Commemoration In Words and Music
The Friends of the Canadian War Museum would like to thank all those involved in making this sold out evening a huge success.
We had over 500 people fill Lebreton Gallery to hear Andrew Ager’s beautiful work, “Unknown Soldier” and commemorate those that fought for Vimy Ridge.
Vimy is a touchstone in Canada’s symbolic landscape. Vimy is a place of pride and sorrow, a symbol of martial might and unity of purpose, and an idea that both haunts and inspires. Vimy is far from home, but when we are there we never feel more Canadian. The Vimy legend is the story of us and its narrative has been woven through the landscape of Canadian identity, culture, and history.
