Interview: Flight Lieutenant Harry Hardy – Holland 1944
Today, Harry Hardy is a member of the FCWM living in Burnaby, BC, however, in 1944 he was a fighter pilot flying Typhoons over Holland with 440 RCAF Squadron.
This 3 minute video is of an interview with Harry by Sgt Art Baldwin shortly after he had returned from a sortie. In the video, Harry describes the three missions he had conducted that day – the first, a reconnaissance patrol; the second, an attack against an enemy supply train; and, the third against enemy supply trucks and wagons.
Although the first sortie was uneventful, he experienced anti-aircraft fire during the second and third attacks. He does note however, that he saw no enemy aircraft.
The images in the video are a montage of family and period photographs, posters and war art.
